Quinn Baser -- Welcome to the team

Quinn Baser just got on the Tactics team. We went to Harrisburg this weekend and came back with a couple gems. This 50-50 to fakie was first try. Act like you know.

Patagonia -- it ain't Patagucci when you get an industry hookup

When you work in the skate/snow industry, most likely it's because you enjoy the lifestyle; you're not just working retail because you want to work retail. Most people I get to work with on the daily genuinely enjoy everything about skateboarding or snowboarding, and that's one of the best things about working at Tactics.

The next best thing? Well, I can't complain about the discounts for some of the best gear out there. Case in point? Patagonia. Even with the employee discount I get at Tactics, the stuff still hits the wallet hard. Luckily, many brands offer a pro-form deal where I can get an additional percentage off. It's not my goal to brag about it, just to let you know that I'll be trying to do a review of some rain jackets I just ordered.

So I just picked up the Torrentshell Jacket; seems like a solid, lightweight rain jacket. Too many times I've been caught in the rain in Eugene and spend the rest of the day just soaked. Needless to say, I'm hyped to be getting this jacket.

I ordered the blue one, but the gecko color looked good too.

However, at first, I wasn't interested in the Torrentshell Jacket; instead, I had my eye on this gem piece, the Rain Shadow Jacket. How tight is this grey colorway?

These can't come soon enough. Mostly because I really, really want to wear them, but this also has something to do with it.

Rain...all the time. I don't think it rained this much winter term, but the first week of spring term rolls around and there's cats and dogs pissing all over this city.

No new photos for you, the one follower of this blog, but at least some new content, even if it's self-centered. Aren't all blogs and most social media?

Ciao

Update much?

It's been a hot minute since I've posted anything new. Haven't really shot much, but here's a flick of Zach Bird getting busy on some ledges by Autzen Stadium.

Jake Gascoyne

I filmed a clip today. That's right, film. Not like 35mm cinema film, just 3 chip Sony VX1000 film. Filming always seemed like the path would-be photographers took once they found out photography isn't easy. And I'm not knocking filmers, it's just a little easier to get a three chip camera and a Century fish-eye lens and call yourself a 'filmer'. So yeah, today I filmed a clip of Jake Gascoyne. This kid took a beating today. First he puts too much wax on the ledge and once he starts trying his trick, his feet are slipping and he's smacking the pavement; like, hard. Anyways, 'nough about filming, I shot these photos the other week and haven't had the time to upload 'em, so here you go. For your viewing pleasure, feast your eyes on three photos shot in one day.

This flat bar is on the side of the High Priestest Tattoo Shop. These are on the Tactics blog, which I write, so that's the reason for the watermark. Backside smith grind and switch crooks.

The tricks above were shot within ten minutes, so we headed to the vacant Kendall lot and Jake got this within several attempts too. The kid's good. Switch varial heelflip.

It's been a hot minute since my last post...

...but that doesn't mean I haven't been shooting! In fact, I've been going out about three or four times a week with the Tactics team. I've got a bunch of stuff on the Tactics blog. Here's a sequence of Zach Bird from yesterday's session at Harrisburg. Switch bigspin heel, what!? Then he started practicing switch tre flips over the pyramid and by practicing I mean he kept rifling them off...until he slammed his face. Yeah, that sucked.

The City by the Bay

I was going to post photos of li'l trip I took with a friend, but I already did that on the good Book (Facebook). So you can check it out there. I'm going to move to SF some day. You just wait and see.

6.15.2009

I'm going going, back back, to Cali Cali

Taking a little road trip with Miss Phillips--that lovely lady below--down to the Red Woods, camping for a bit and then heading down to SF. No plans, just getting out of town. We'll take off tomorrow and keep y'all updated as much as possible. Then it's back to Sheridan for Daryl Days, ya heard?

Photo session with Amanda and Shanna

So, I shoot photos, right? And portraits too. Here's a couple from a li'l session that went down last Wednesday. Amanda's making a present for her Mom so we shot some portraits. These aren't the ones she wants to use, but they're some of my favorite from the day. Shanna was there too!

Miss Phillips in front of Deady.

Get these two together and you're bound to crack up. Good times.

6.03.2009

this is what I get for sitting at my desk for 30 hours straight

I don't know if the photo will be too small, but that little negative sign is the reason I failed Info Hell, again. The project was done, finished, bound and everything. So I'm feeling super good and I'm like, "word!? that Twix looks deeeeliisssh."

Homegirl's like, "$14.96, please."

Pssh, chump change, right? ... Card declined ... Oh snap, stress response. Beggin' and Pleadin' with some dude who's powertrippin' behind the counter. Seriously, what the fuck did I do to you? I'll leave you my wallet, my phone, miPod, just let me leave with my project cause it's due in 10 minutes. I'll be right back.

"Yeaaaah, ummm. We don't really do that."

"No, seriously, that class is going to cost me another six bills cause you won't let me come back later to pay you"

"Sooorrry. We just can't let you do that."

That guy sucks.

I shoot portraits too

This portrait session happened about a month ago. Just helping out a friend from work.

Harrisburg Session with Graig and Oudalay

Headed out to Harrisburg on Saturday after work and came back with these flicks. Enjoy.

Powell Premier at Tactics

The Powell team rolled through town last Thursday and premiered their new flick FUN! Good times were had by all. Check the vid I put together below. I'll have to get a G rated one together for the Tactics blog.

Found this old gem on my PhotoBucket account

This spot was in Portland and Ryan was filming a video clip. I set up some flashes and came away with this flick. Probably shot it too late, but I always thought it looked pretty good.

Mini Vid

ZB, again, on the Tactics ramp getting busy.

4.07.2009

ZB on the Tactics' ramp

Along with the video below, I also shot this sequence with Zach Bird today. I hope to keep the momentum going and continue to stack footy. We'll see what the school schedule allows.

Check this clip I shot and put together today. Whatchu know 'bout that Britney slap?

Drew Banks: BS Flip switch manny

Drew wasn't hyped on the little toe touch, so I decided to put a sequence together and highlight this point. It's just for fun, enjoy.

ZB does cab nose blunts better than most

Skated a bunch today. My legs are killing me. Shot this flick with ZB. I'm pretty hyped on it.

Meadowview Photos

Enjoy these photos as I try to figure out the best way to save files for viewing on the web.

Where do the colors go?

Still trying to figure out how to Save for the Web without loosing all my colors... Ryan Harris: Ollie to Fakie

8.12.2008

FS Hurricane

I went to Aumsville about a month ago with Alex, Vanessa and Connor and shot some photos... Here, Connor throws down a frontside hurricane to fakie (which would look a lot better as a sequence...) as the sun dips below the horizon.

8.11.2008

A BS Smith from any other angle... wouldn't it look just as good?

I don't know why, but the colors don't look anywhere near as good as when I'm editing them...

More photos.

Just can't get enough of the new Photoshop.

Smoothy throws down a fs boneless as the sun goes down

Alex has got these on lock

All the other photos were higher up, but I shot them too early and so Ryan wasn't grabbing melon yet.

8.04.2008

Adobe!

I got Adobe Design for my birthday and this was the first photo I edited with it. Enjoy. There will be many more to come.

12.27.2007

oldies...

Found a CD titled "Skate Flix" in some random pile today...it was loaded with goodies like these gems right here. Probably shot these two years ago.

Javier with a front board transfer up the hip at the Ponderosa Park in Bend.

Ryan's got some pops...up and over a rail in Bend, OR

Sean Claughton's got style for days. Nosegrind pop out

11.07.2007

one of my favorites

this is probably one of my favorite photos that I've ever shot. I haven't uploaded anything for days and so i thought I'd upload this photo for your viewing pleasure...let me know what you think.

9.13.2007

switch crook

I wish I could see so next time I shoot a photo, it will actually be in focus. Kinda wanna go back and shoot it on film and get there a little earlier and maybe wax the ledge so Ryan'll go higher...peep what we got last night.

9.07.2007

digi digi digi

I remember when I got the film back of this trick, the one that looked the best (the one he landed), had a mishap with one of the flashes not going off. Twigs got a BS flip on film that looks so sick. I'll figure out my scanner and get that up here in the next couple days. Late

Here's another photo...just because. sorry about the crappy colors. I hate trying to save things for the web.

9.06.2007

skate flicks...

So Ryan, Levi, and I skated one afternoon a couple weeks ago and got some good photos. Here's a couple I was hyped on. On another note, I completely forgot about the Slap Photographer contest. Kind of bummed on that. I didn't really shoot that much this summer anyway, but I still wanted to enter some photos and see how I stacked up to other photogs around the country. Oh well.

Twigs has got a mean FS Flip; here he executes another beauty.

Right next to that flat gap was this handrail/hill bomb combo. Ryan pulled it, but after seeing the photos on a computer, the one he landed didn't look as good as this one. I think it'd look sick during the day with no flashes and only the sun...maybe before I leave.
